This recipe for Pasta and Pesto is just a very easy and cheap idea for a quick meal or light lunch.

If you feel that it's really too easy to have a recipe for simple pastas with sauce, please read my introduction. There, I say that the only assumptions I have made about you, the visitor to NeedaRecipe.com, is that you know what an egg is, and that you can tell the difference between the sharp end of a knife and the blunt end! Because of this, you may find some of the recipes a little elementary. If this is the case, don't worry because it means that you have a head start on some of your fellow site visitors. Even visitors who have some basic culinary skills will find that this site contains plenty of useful ideas and short cuts that they have not come across before.

To serve 2:

4 oz fusilli or farfalle pasta
6 - 8 oz jar pesto sauce
1 oz grated Parmesan cheese

How to Cook Pasta and Pesto

  1. Place the pasta in a pan of lightly salted boiling water and cook according to the instructions (usually about 8 minutes). Drain in a colander and, while the pasta is draining empty the pesto into the pan and allow it to warm. Replace the pasta in the pan and stir into the sauce making sure it is completely coated. Serve immediately, sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.
GRAHAM'S HOT TIP:
Use 2oz(50g) of grated Cheddar cheese in place of the Parmesan cheese and melt under a hot preheated grill for about 4 minutes. More calories, but more fun!

GRAHAM'S WINE RECOMMENDATION:
Barbera d'Asti like Marchesi di Gresy Barbera d'Asti. Italian Barbera goes well with pasta, tomato-based dishes and dishes from the North of Italy.
