There is a wonderful clean taste to a Fresh Fruit Salad. It always reminds me of lazy hot summer days, the smell of freshly mown grass and the sound of a tiny stream trickling down the hillside through the heather ... Ah, what a romantic!

Adding honey and fresh ginger to your fruit salad gives it extra flavor and zest. Mix in a large bowl and let guests serve themselves. Or make fruit salad fun by serving it in parfait or martini glasses. It will look just as good as it tastes.

How to Cook Fresh Fruit Salad

  1. Peel the pear and the apple, remove the cores and cut into thin slices. Peel the orange and remove the segments. Using a sharp, pointed knife, remove the 'skin' that separates the segments, leaving just the soft fruit from inside. Peel the banana and cut into thin slices. Cut the grapes in halves. Place everything in to a serving bowl and squeeze the juice from half a lemon over the top. Sprinkle with the sugar, add the brandy and mix well.
  2. Nothing could be simpler or fresher either on its own or with a little double cream (heavy cream).


Graham GRAHAM'S HOT TIP:
If you have enough time, allow the salad to stand for at least an hour in the fridge before serving since the fruit will make a rich syrup on its own. Stir again before serving.
