Look, I know it's messy and it's really lowering the tone of the web site, but your kids will really thank you for making Hot Bacon and Egg Sandwiches for them! However, since the egg yolk has a habit of running out from between the bread, just make sure they're not wearing their best clothes when you make them!

If you feel that it's really too easy to have a recipe for Hot Bacon and Egg Sandwich, please read my introduction. There, I say that the only assumptions I have made about you, the visitor to NeedaRecipe.com, is that you know what an egg is, and that you can tell the difference between the sharp end of a knife and the blunt end! Because of this, you may find some of the recipes a little elementary. If this is the case, don't worry because it means that you have a head start on some of your fellow site visitors. Even visitors who have some basic culinary skills will find that this site contains plenty of useful ideas and short cuts that they have not come across before.

PLEASE NOTE: This recipe calls for the GRILLING or BROILING of food. In most countries of the world, the term "grilling" refers to heat coming from above the food source. Significantly, in North America, it signifies heat from below the food (such as barbecuing). In the United States and Canada, when the heat source for grilling comes from above, grilling is termed broiling, and the pan that holds the food is usually called a broiler pan.

How to Cook Hot Bacon and Egg Sandwich

  1. Boil the eggs for about six minutes so that they are neither too soft and runny nor completely hard-boiled. Cool quickly under cold water so you can hold the shells then carefully remove the shells. Meanwhile, grill (or fry) the bacon and (if you feel the need) lightly butter the bread.
  2. Place two bacon rashers (slices) onto a slice of bread then put the egg on top. Roughly chop the egg so that the yolk runs over the bacon then quickly place the second slice of bread on top to form the sandwich. Oh messy bliss!!

Graham GRAHAM'S HOT TIP:
To remove the shell from a cooked egg, tap it gently to make a small crack, then place the egg in cold water. Roll it between the palms of your hands to further crack it and then carefully peel the shell away. It will be made easier if you keep your hands and the egg wet.

Messy bliss indeed! My kids scream for it on a regular basis (along with lashings of ketchup) and what can I, a mere mortal, do to stop it!
